More people with “Swine Flu” than pigs?

Of Swine Flu, Pigs And a State Fair

by Janet Raloff

According to the USDA and U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention there has yet to be any U.S. pigs infected with swine flu. However a group of pigs shown at the Minnesota State Fair are being reexamined for the infectious virus because of an out break of the virus in children in contact with those animals, and housed in a dormitory at the fair caring for the pigs. There is supposively no direct link between the animals and the infected kid, but to prevent further spread of the disease further tests and being performed. Tom Vilsack reminds people, “ They cannot get the H1N1 virus from eating pork or pork products.” However, it can spread through feces, if people cleaning up after or people petting infected animals do not wash their hands thoroughly. Wash your hands if caring for or in contact with pigs. Cover your cough.

And WASH YOUR HANDS!

Are you scared about swine flu?

Has anyone you know gotten H1N1?

Personally I’m not scared of the H1N1 virus, because there hasn’t been anyone I’ve known infected with it. Plus it just doesn’t seem like that big of a deal to me, and the “swine flu” thing has gotten kinda old. No one I know has been infected with the virus so far. But who knows what will happen next.

I don’t think there is any reason to be scared of swine flu. It does have its risk but so do most things. As long as your healthy, aware, and do your best to stay away from it then I think that you will be fine.

I think that everyone is at least a little bit hesitant or scared about Swine Flu, but I don’t think it’s something that we should all take extreme caution of it’s just a different type of the flu. I don’t know of anyone that I know that has gotten Swine Flu yet and let’s hope it stays that way.

I for one am not scared of the swine flu. I’ve even had it and for me it wasnt that bad. Sure its killed people but have you looked at the other flus? They’ve killed people too. Its only because its new that people are worried about it. Don’t be. Once everyone builds up an immunity to it, less and less people will get it and it will become like any other flu. Something you get a shot to help stop during the fall.

I’m not afraid of the swine flu.Once my sister heard that it was at KU she told my mom. She was worried I would catch it and give it to her because I catch things easily. Even though that did end up happening, having swine flu wasn’t that bad. I think that bad and in my opinion strep throat is worse.

I’m not scared of the swine flu at all. A couple of my friends have had it but have recovered from the virus rather quickly and have returned to school only after a couple of days. I’ve heard of deaths from H1N1 before but these people never really took care of themselves either. I say it depends on how healthy you can keep yourself and to keep from spreading germs.

Swine Flu swine flu that’s all anyone talks about. It’s simply a variant of something we fight off every year. No, I’m not afraid. If you are then it’s completely irrational. No one I know has gotten it and no I’m not worried about getting it.

I agree it is just a variety of the same flu affecting us every year. The flu kills more people a year than this has.

The swine flu is definitely not fun, TRUST ME! I wasn’t really worried about getting the swine flu until I actually got it. For me the swine flu wasn’t really that bad, but it affects certain people differently.

When I first heard about Swine Flu I was a little scared about it. Now that I’ve heard more about it I know that there is no reason to be scared. Yes, I do know a few people who have had it, and they are perfectly fine now.

The swine flu is definitly not fun and I wasnt scared about it before I got it. Even though I did get it my case wasn’t very bad at all. Three days out of school. Five days on “Tamiflu” and I was all better and back in school almost no worse for wear. I undeerstand it affects people differently and for some it could even be life threatening. But for the general public it really isn’t that bad

I am personally a little bit scared of the swine flue. The reason I am afraid is beacaus of the myth that the world is going to end in 2012. It says in the bible that before the world ends there will be a grat plegue, but I do not think this is a pleague just kind of a scary thought.
