I pods catching on fire!
Title:Are you playing with fire when you play your tunes?

I pods keep getting smaller but they still hold the same amount of music. How are they doing this? They are making their size’s smaller by improving the way the batteries rely on lithium ions. Which hold and realse energy. This may seem convenient but your i pod may catch on fire because of the little room on the battery which limits how much the battery can cool off. If the battery gets to hot it can overheat and possibley catch onto flames.
These batteries are extremly sensitive to temperature. The battery works well at a 50 degree celsius. But overheating is not the only way an i pod could catch on fire just by simply charging the battery. No need to worry this process is very slow when the battery is in room temperature but the process gets faster as the temperature rises. They are trying to make a safer type of battery with lower power but you can reduce the risk by limiting their exposure to heat and let them cool off. Also by not over charging them it’s rare but it can also happen.
Do you think its i pods are safe?
Are you afraid of your i pod bursting into flames?
Should they fix this probelm?

You have me so freaked out! I charge my Ipod over night all the time! And it gets very hot in my room! But, i do believe that this is true. It has happened to other electronic appliances as well as the ipod. Except the batteries overheat and basically blow up!

Honestly I think an i pod bursting into flames is the least of my worries. I think that if your are worried about an i pod catching on fire. Anything can burst into flames so how would we fix everything?

I think i pods are safe. I have never had this happen and neither has my friends. I am not afraid of my i pod catching on fire but if this problem gets serious they should definitely try to fix it.

I am not even close to thinking my ipod is going to burst into flames. It may hold a lot of stuff but there is a reason for that, if it was going to blow up then they wouldnt put all of that into it.

wow really.
i do not think my ipod will ever burst into flames.
if ipods weren’t safe, they wouldn’t sell.

Ipods are a very popular item and of course they are safe. Ipod’s can overheat because of the battery, but flames will not occur. Everyone has felt the heat from a laptop sitting on your lap from extended use. That heat can get hot enough to burn even with the fans inside. However, have you ever felt the heat from your Ipod from using it? Maybe a little, but not that much at all. Not enough to even burn. NOthing past a dull warmth. Look through the news, there will be no incidents of Ipods spontaniously combusting.

Even though i pods can catch fire I think that they are still safe and I’m not afraid that my i pod is going to burst it to flames, but I still think that they should fix this problem because There is a possibility that someone likes their house warm or leave it in the charger because they forget then it could become a problem expecially if nobody is home and it lights the house on fire.

No I do not think that the i pods are safe being that they are catching on fire. No I am not afraid of the my Ipod catching on fire because i do not have a Ipod. Yes they should fix the problem because i want to buy one and I do not want it to catch on fire.

I think that ipods are safe, there is always a risk with just about anything you do. For the most part ipods are generally safe. I’m not afraid of my ipod bursting into flames but it doesn’t hurt to be cautious and i’ll probably watch it more carefully next time it is charging. And I most definately thing that they should try to fix this problem because it could seriously hurt someone and there shouldn’t be a need to worry if one of your most prized posessions is going to catch on fire and possibly cause harm.

I think that iPods are totally safe and that this is just another way for people to get money. Seriously, how many iPods burst into flame? 15, out of what a billion? I’m not afraid that my iPod is going to burst ito flames because, really, the chance of that happening is like miniscule. I don’t think that this is really even a problem and there is no need for them to “fix it”.

Yes I think they should fix this problem. If I had an I-Pod no I would not be afraid, just because it happens does not mean it is going to happen to you.

I’ll believe it when I see it, I dont think there too worried about it if they continue to make it smaller. Alot of things get heated and you dont see them bursting into flames. Nobody should be scared of this either.

Well i think that it matters on how people treat their ipods wether or not their ipod bursts into flames, if it does their loss. I dont find my ipod bursting into flames scary, but it would be pretty sad. Those things are expensive! But it can also give you a reason to get the latest version they have.

I think the iPods are safe because I think it would take a while to have that happen to my iPod. Also iPods are not made of anything flammable so it is nearly impossible to have my iPod go up in flames. I think if that does happen then yes they should try and fix it but there is still nothing to worry about.

I am not worried about my ipod bursting into flames. I have never heard of that before. I think that if they were truly dangerous then they would stop selling them.

iPods are probably still safe depending on the type and the temperature. And I wasn’t afraid that my iPod would catch fire until I read this… Fire was no where on my mind. And yeah, they should definitely fix this problem.
