Blog Rules
1. Use first names only or pseudonymns – USE YOUR TAG!
2. Do not identify your location
3. Remember that nothing can be permenently erased in cyberspace.
To use the blog, you must adhere to the following statements.
1. I will not use any curse words or inappropriate language
2. I will try to spell everything correctly
3. I will not use fighting words or provoke anyone.
4. I will avoid the use of chat language
5. I will only give constructive criticism.
6. I will only use my first name and those of my classmates.
7. I will not plagiarize.
I recognize that by breaking any of these rules it could lead to any of the following consequences depending on the severity and repetition:
1. warning
2. deletion of some or all of the post and loss of corresponding points.
3. temporary loss of blogging privileges and subsequent grade consequences.
4. permanent loss of blogging privileges and subsequent grade consequences.
5. referral to the school administration
Comments
1. Max two comments per day!
2. Comments cannot be made to “dead” posts. Posts that don’t appear on the blog front page are considered dead posts.
3. Comments must take into consideration not only the post, but ALL comments already published.
4. Comments must contain well thought-out commentary. Comments that just contain a link to a website address or opinions only will be deleted. Science is evidence-based, not opinion-based.
Posts
1. Max one post per week!(Sunday – Sunday)
2. Posts must follow “ How to Write a good blog post” given in class, and posted on blog.
3. Posts must fit into one of the themes below.
4. Posts must contain research-based evidence from credible science institutions. Posts that contain sources that are not from credible science institutions will not be published. Students should email posts to nickersonl@kfalls.k12.or.us for consideration for posting.
5. When posts are submitted to Mrs. Nickerson they are considered rough drafts. All students should expect to make changes or improvements to their posts as determined by Mrs. Nickerson

1. Highlight an organism with incredible adaptations.
2. Organism must not be well-known by the public.
3. Maximum of one per term per student.
Medical Marvels
1. Medical discoveries, health-related news, anatomy and physiology, etc.
2. Must contain medical images

Classroom Connections
1. Directly relates to a classroom discussion, assignment, or lab
Enviromental/Ecological News
1. No endangered species posts.
2. Maximum of one per term per student.
Real World Science
1. Something the average person can relate to in their everyday lives.
2. Maximum of one per term per student.
